As a Mechanical Designer, you will be:

  • Completing component level designs

  • Keeping supervisor regularly informed on progress and issues encountered.

  • Ensuring all designs are peer reviewed by technical lead or assigned mentor.

  • Supporting test planning, execution, and reporting as assigned and under supervision of test lead.

  • Participating in the generation of Research and Development opportunities, as well as other operational planning activities.

Focusing on:

  • Propulsion systems including power pack, engines, transmission, cooling, fuel, pneumatics, hydraulics, mission equipment.

  • Automotive powertrain systems - suspension, axles, steering, brakes, drivelines

Stowage, Covers, Guards and Access Panels (CGAP), AFES, NBC, Windshield and Washing Systems, Seats, Workstations, and unique interior mission equipment.

Education and Experience :

  • University Degree, College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or experience equivalence gained through working in the field of Mechanical Design or relevant engineering discipline

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant automotive or mechanical design experience

  • Proficient in the use of 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages (Siemens NX - an asset)

  • Competent in analyzing Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • P. Eng. or ability to obtain P. Eng designation

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others)

  • Possess/be able to acquire a valid passport, with the ability to travel both domestically and internationally

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Canadian Security Clearance
