About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Learning & Development manager for ES&T (CMS), we’re looking for a new team member to lead our apprenticeships programmes for both early careers entrants and established employees.

We are happy to consider applicants from across the UK providing you can occasionally travel as required.

Key responsibilities of the role are to manage apprenticeships in the UK, including both early career apprentices and apprenticeships for established employee development. This includes:

  • Operating the Gov.UK digital levy account, interfacing with DfE, ESFA, IfATE* and accessing appropriate funding streams in devolved nations.

  • Supporting the process of determining business need for apprentices and apprenticeships – numbers, locations, disciplines

  • Selection of providers, recommendation of appropriate courses of study and completion of all associated contractual work

  • Providing guidance to line managers on managing employees on apprenticeships

  • Apprentice pastoral care (where appropriate)

  • Acting as the ambassador for the apprenticeships to promote awareness across the business

  • Ensuring a robust and engaging experience for those studying an apprenticeship

  • In collaboration with others, supporting the delivery of training and guidance to line managers and mentors

  • Providing ongoing communication and support to programme participants, their managers and mentors

Here’s what you’ll need :

It’s likely you will have had experience managing apprenticeship levy in either a provider or employer organisation, preferably including contractual documentation.

It’s essential you have good working knowledge of UK regulated qualifications and apprenticeship funding rules across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

In addition, we are looking for people who can demonstrate that they can:

  • Communicate effectively in a variety of settings/through multiple channels

  • Be approachable to work experience and apprentice participants

  • Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders

  • Work collaboratively with other groups to achieve shared objectives

  • Ensure accountability of responsibilities, processes and the measurement of results

  • Apply an organized and efficient approach to developing and improving processes

Previous experience in Learning and Talent Development and or STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths) related roles is desirable but not essential.
