Conservation Architect with in-depth knowledge and experience of working with historic buildings across a range of sectors. Be familiar with English Heritage and ICOMOS conservation management strategies for historic environment.

Able to collaborate with the Architectural Project Management in developing and managing the design delivery strategy, deliverables and programme with appropriate resources and time in place for multi-disciplinary co-ordination and assurance in response to a clearly defined and agreed procurement strategy.

Required to drive a culture of continuous improvement based on knowledge management including

understanding current standards and codes, drawing and document templating, delivery strategy models, co-ordination and assurance processes.

An open, collaborative and accessible team member that encourages open communication with their wider team to collectively identify any elements of issue early as possible.

Job Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Architectural Management Team, resource and manage conservation aspect of architectural proposal.

  • Responsible for developing heritage assessments and statements of significance for historic buildings.

  • Responsible for producing condition surveys of heritage assets.

  • Management and delivery of the project design strategy at concept, planning stage, technical design delivery strategy, deliverables and programme.

  • Support wider design team during development of interventions to heritage asset.

  • Support wider design team in bid preparation.

People Management:

  • Leadership experience managing a small to medium sized team.

  • Able to manage junior colleges and provide guidance and support where necessary.

  • Follow company values and exhibit appropriate behaviours.

  • Manage time efficiently and lead / assist / input into team meetings to review design programme.

Business & Financial

  • Demonstrate good client-facing communication skills.

  • Support the Project Lead in developing the project execution plan, including financial planning, and forecasting resource.

  • Lead the project execution plan, including financial planning for conservation focused tasks.

  • Support wider team in fee preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive post-qualification experience.

  • ARB registered architect.

  • AABC or RIBA SCA / CA accreditation.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of UK planning and building regulations.

  • Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)

  • Working capability in industry-standard design software such as Microstation, AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Excellent conceptual, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Fluency in English (oral and written) required.
