Purpose of the Job

The individual will be required to deliver an efficient, transparent, flexible, and comprehensive service to the Client Project team, whilst ensuring the safeguarding of the business-as-usual operation.

This is a fixed term contract anticipated to last approximately 12-18 months initially but potential to increase this fixed term or make the position permanent depending on project activity .

  • The candidate will be electrically competent and actively aide the Client Project team and data centre teams with the refresh of electrical and mechanical assets serving the data halls.

  • This will also include decommissioning and removal of old Infrastructure.

  • A major part of the role will be the completion of quality, health and safety information, permitting and overseeing of subcontractor activities.

  • A vast majority of the Project implementation Technicians work will be at Heathrow Data Centre, however from time to time there may be a requirement to travel to Croydon Data Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a day-to-day contact for the appropriate project team day to day activities and interface between the project needs and BAU teams.

  • To perform decommissioning and removal of old electrical & mechanical infrastructure as required.

  • Monitor the safe working practices of subcontractors against approved RAMS etc.

  • Facilitate access to site, inductions and ensuring compliance with respect to access to and through spaces not demised to the project delivery team.

  • To identify, reduce and manage and or escalate all risks (technical, statutory, health and safety, or otherwise) associated with each project.

  • To escalate concerns with project delivery and or management by third parties to the CBRE site management team.

  • To understand and familiarize one’s self with the CBRE A-Z rules, the site rules and monitor the health and safety working conditions on each and every project and to escalate concerns to the site management team.

  • To provide escorting duties in areas that are not demised to the contractor undertaking project activities to ensure BAU operations are not unduly affected, escalating concerns as necessary to the site management team.

  • As Required updating Client systems to reflect changes in Electrical and IT infrastructure.

  • To undertake other reasonable related activities as and when required.

Accountabilities

  • Directly accountable to the CBRE’s on site Technical Manager and indirectly through the Project Coordinator for the respective project site

  • This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility, but financial awareness and understanding is required.

  • Accountable for day-to-day activities with the BAU duty shift manager and must attend a daily briefing with the shift where required.

Skill Requirements

  • Technician background (electrical bias)

  • Articulate and able to communicate project intent to the BAU team.

  • Knowledge of data centre operations and electrical infrastructure.

The following qualifications/training is required to be held and/or completed:

  • Formal electrical training

  • PTW

  • RA

  • Site induction

  • Incident escalation

  • CDCTP Advantageous

Working Hours

  • The individual will be expected to develop both skills and knowledge throughout the contract and have a can - do attitude

  • Working hours will need to be flexible to meet project needs, which will include weekday night working & weekend working

  • 40-hour week
