The role will be based preferment in the UK or Germany with up to 20% of time traveling either domestically or to other EU countries.

As a Senior Permitting Manager you will be part of the Design and Construction team (D&C) within AMZ Global Engineering services (GESS), with the long-term vision of shaping the future of the Construction Industry. Within D&C we push the boundaries of possibility, driving innovative, standardize and scalable solutions to deliver high quality buildings and capacity to meet customer needs. Key job responsibilities

• You will assume a centralized function and will evaluate and advice permitting processes for complex, cross-functional industrial potential opportunities for projects, from shortlisting to construction completion, including conversions or changes in operation, advising about the best approach to manage Amazon designs to be compliant with local and internal regulations, review and standardize permitting documents, follow ups and changes for new and retrofit sites, insisting on the highest standards from self and others, owning accountability for results

• You will evaluate Due Diligences, local regulations, draft and track schedules, and will forecast fundamental components, including identifying and solving factors that may impede a successful permitted project hand-over to Amazon stakeholders.

• You will be a key participant in site selection process, reviewing the available information and providing permitting strategy.

• You push to improve and coach project teams who are creating permit documentation, and ensure permits are fit for operational requirements.

• You will be our Subject Matter Expert for Building Permits and licenses, and the link between the Construction team, which manage ongoing projects on the ground and the Pre-construction team which are setting these projects up.

• You will understand the permitting and licensing process in EU countries, and develop strategies to standardize, improve and track.

A day in the life

Each day you will represent AMZ and D&C GESS in ensuring the on time and in budget execution of Amazon construction projects, while strategically improving its processes, costs, quality H&S, and sustainability performance. You will be leading and mentoring large cross-functional teams as an expert technical and permit management resource to evaluate roadmaps for permitting of potential construction projects and skilfully motivate and focus people of all levels to deliver. You will drive significant communication across departments, to front line and executive level managers while serving as an authority on project issues. You will leverage your experience and tools to understand where gaps exist in project plans and propose solutions.

You will be understanding and negotiating strategies of permitting with developers and local and regional technicians and consultants, representing Amazon’s interests. Daily tasks may be comprised of site validation, due diligence and risk analysis, and stakeholders alignment. For jurisdictional coordination you will get familiar with zoning/planning, fire and environmental regulations and building codes. You will act as the primary escalation point for the evaluation of the feasibility of potential future projects project by team members, owning and tracking issues to ensure that they are addressed, documented, and resolved using influence to manage team members.

Great communication skills to front line and executive level managers will be a must.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in project management, real estate development, architecture/design

  • A completed University Degree, B.S. or Master in Urban development, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or comparable field and solid demonstrable experience in development advisory, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Development Management, Owner’s project management representative or other Commercial Development and Real Estate related disciplines.

  • Solid demonstrable urban development understanding, from design phase through implementation and operation and permitting management, ideally in international environments.

  • Experience within industrial/ logistical facilities with complex equipment or comparable experience will be appreciated.

  • Basic working and software-architectural knowledge in BIM. Good working knowledge using MS Excel, MS Project and related software.

  • Professional fluency in English required.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% within assigned regions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, commerce, business administration or equivalent

  • German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish are considered preferred qualification
