About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a French Polisher to join our Engineering team at The Carlton Tower Jumeirah. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, Assistant director of Engineering or Engineering Supervisor undertake a range of planned and corrective maintenance and decorative duties to ensure that all our back of house areas and public areas, along with guest bedrooms are maintained and presented at the highest standard.

  • Maintain hotel joinery, finishes and furnishings to the highest standards with polishing techniques and decoration.

  • Undertake projects and completion of painting, wall coverings, silicone works, tiling, French polishing, light carpentry and/or other special repairs works throughout the hotel to ensure that all areas are well maintained and presented.

  • Reports any incidents, complaints, suspicious persons or safety hazards immediately.

  • Input all HotSos generated work requests reported to you into the Hotsos system and record actions and status.

  • Promptly advise your supervisor or duty manager of any serious problems or failures together with any relevant information to aid follow up.

  • Ensure that all necessary safe operating procedures and instructions relating to Health & Safety (including the wearing of the correct PPE) for the task you are performing are followed correctly.

  • Carry out all maintenance repair work in a clean and tidy manner, with particular care an attention taken to minimise the impact of maintenance work on guests within public areas.

  • Project at all times a positive and joyful attitude yet stay composed under pressurised situations in order to create goodwill and nurture working relationships with all colleagues.

  • Complete planned preventive inspections as directed and log on relevant software and log sheets where required updating the maintenance reporting software and relevant log sheets.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Decorative trade qualification experience in a luxury hospitality environment.

  • Proven track record of working with high-end materials and finishes, showcasing exceptional attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in using a variety of polishing techniques and tools to achieve impeccable results.

  • Strong understanding of wood types, finishes, and restoration methods commonly found in upscale settings.

  • Certification or training in French polishing techniques or related areas is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, contractors, and other team members to fulfill clients' exacting requirements.
