Bloomberg Content Indexing Specialist - Human-in-the-Loop in London, United Kingdom

Bloomberg Products run on data, and in the Data division we're responsible for acquisition and delivery of the best content to our clients. We collect, model, analyze and publish the data that is the backbone of the Bloomberg Terminal. We evolve innovative workflows and implement solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes, to deliver insights.

As a member of our News team within the Data AI department, you’ll be responsible for the classification of the world's most meaningful financial and economic news. We use proprietary software and advanced machine learning approaches to retrieve, parse, coordinate and tag content from Bloomberg, news wires and the web. We increasingly work to develop and implement AI-driven systems by building, training and statistical classification models and generative AI tools.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Utilize proprietary tooling to build hierarchical rules to classify content

  • Develop innovative processes focused on natural language

  • Be curious about news and perform research in order to identify news trends and modify or build news classification rules accordingly

  • Find opportunities to build efficiency in our processes and execute on your ideas

  • Collaborate with our partners in Product Strategy, Sales, Analytics, and Engineering to understand our clients’ needs and build a best-in-class news product

  • Be responsive, resourceful, flexible and an excellent collaborator

  • Balance the best of technical and product knowledge to implement solutions for customers

You'll need to have:

*Please note we use years of experience as a guide, but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.

  • A bachelor’s degree in subject areas such as statistics, data science, economics, finance,and computer science.

  • +4 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience related to AI products development: annotation management, ML model development, remediation of AI issues

  • Understanding of a programming or query language and experience of using it for a data analysis.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to pay close attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven understanding of customer service and building strong relationships with partners

  • Ability to work in the UK without visa sponsorship now or in the future

We'd love to see:

  • Experience evaluating generative AI tools.

  • Experience in using categorization, filtering or mining software (such as OpenCalais, Datasift, GNIP, Inxight, IDOL, Verity, Clear Forest, Microsoft Fast)

  • Active interest in global financial markets, economic themes and drivers

  • Experience and proficiency in usage of classification / data mining software

  • Experience working on data science projects and technologies, especially using NLP techniques to take care of unstructured text corpus

  • Experience in editing, writing, curating, labelling or assigning news stories

  • Demonstrated capability in data management, data processing, data analysis and/or associated tools and technologies.
