Amazon Business Development Manager, Amazon Freight in London, United Kingdom

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team that covers both business development and commercial strategy for a rapidly growing organization within Amazon Freight. The team is responsible for recruiting and growing European shippers at scale, helping them unlock their full potential through our self-serve tools. It involves coaching and developing a team of sales assistants to implement best practices and deliver results.

Additionally, the business owner will collaborate with senior stakeholders to build, test, and roll out strategic programs that support the broader Amazon Freight commercial team.

The successful candidate will lead with empathy to cultivate a high-performing sales team, possess strong programmatic skills to scale the self-serve business, and think creatively to solve ambiguous problems.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive Customer Acquisition: Handle inbound sales inquiries to recruit a high volume of customers for our products and services.

  • Hire, Coach, and Develop a Sales Team: Recruit and train a high-performing sales team that is integral to the total Amazon Freight business development pipeline.

  • Build Efficient, Scalable, and Transparent Processes through Program Management: Create and optimize pipeline processes to enhance efficiency and scalability from prospect to product launch.

  • Support Lead Generation: Analyze pipeline quality to aid the marketing team in generating high-quality leads.

  • Inform Product Development: Use customer feedback to identify pain points and guide product improvements.

  • Implement Strategic Initiatives: Test new strategies in collaboration with senior stakeholders to support pitching or securing new business.

  • Own Performance Updates and Business Reviews: Manage pipeline updates, business reviews, and strategic project documents with leadership.

A day in the life

The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting and providing sales coaching to a team, driving growth, building reporting mechanisms, and owning the overall sales strategy. They will also spend time driving strategic projects that address complex problems across the broader commercial team. As the first point of contact with customers, they will review the voice of the customer and drive initiatives to optimize our customer experience.

About the team

Amazon Freight (AF) is a B2B start-up within Amazon Transportation Services in Europe.

Amazon Freight allows external businesses ("shippers") to use Amazon’s transportation technology and network to transport products in bulk across Europe. This is an innovative technology-driven solution for the logistics needs of small and large businesses and is scaling rapidly as an offering.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience in business development, partner development, sales or alliances management

  • Experience in developing, negotiating and executing business agreements

  • Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level

  • Quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills

  • Entrepreneurial, self-sufficient and able to operate in a fluid, ambiguous environment

  • Advanced proficiency in written and verbal English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in online advertising or high-tech products/services

  • Proficiency in written and verbal in one of the following: French, Italian or Spanish

  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements

  • Prior experience working in supply chain, Business Development or top-tier consulting experiences

  • MBA/Master's degree
