BRIDGERLAND TECHNICAL COLLEGE Welding Instructor Night in LOGAN, Utah

Tuesday and Thursday Nights from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm for a 10 week course. 3 or 4 course are held each year.

Qualifications

Technical College Certificate and one year experience within the given area of emphasis or high school diploma and greater than four years successful related experience. Proficiency in the use of content area as it relates to curriculum and delivery of course content. Having a CWI certification is a plus, but not required.

Job Summary

Create, manage, and participate in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. Participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and the College, and collective interest of its staff and student body.

Essential Duties

TEACHING: Plans, develops, and presents organized learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines in topics relating to their specific curriculum competencies. Must be willing to work with High School and Adult students and be willing to help with night classes as needed.

CURRICULUM: Prepares curriculum materials, including course outlines, syllabi, and other instructional materials. Contributes, as appropriate, to program improvement and development. Must have computer skills and utilize canvas and online instruction.

COMMUNICATION: Assures effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility. Provides out-of-class communication opportunities with students. Participates in department and College meetings as appropriate. Participates in the work of the program advisory committees. Represents the College to external constituencies as appropriate. Seeks to promote a spirit of collegiality in dealings with College staff.

STUDENT ADVISING, RETENTION, AND ASSESSMENT: Assumes academic advising responsibilities for students within the faculty member's field of expertise. Is familiar with College assessment and placement procedures and aware of campus resources. Participates in department processing designed to recruit, advise, and retain students.

LEADERSHIP: Provides leadership in the learning environment and curricular expertise.

PLANNING: Participates in all aspects of program and department planning and in the establishment of department goals and objectives.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Maintain competency and currency in the subject matter of courses taught and in teaching skills.

FACILITY: Assumes responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment of the Welding Department and the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment. Must be willing to teach and supervise students in the welding lab.
