Overview USU Extension in Wayne County is seeking a creative and positive person to work as a Program Assistant to Extension Faculty. Hours will be Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm in the USU Extension office in Wayne County. This is a full-time benefited position. Applicants should be able to work well independently and in a team. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary.  This position is administratively responsible to the Wayne County Home and Community Faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Assist USU Extension faculty and staff in the development of programs, with emphasis on the 4-H program, through clubs and activities, providing youth with positive life skills.  Recruit volunteer leaders and assist in training, supervising and mentoring volunteers, Provide the public with 4-H enrollment, educational information, and manage the ZSuite 4-H enrollment computer program. Develop materials to promote supported community out-reach programming including assisting in the development of PowerPoint presentations and other educational materials, mailings, flyers, brochures, banners, and postcards.  Responsibilities include keeping websites and other social media up-to-date and accurate as well as advertising classes and programs.
  • Work cooperatively with USU Extension faculty and other USU staff on a variety of programming needs as assigned by the Wayne County Home and Community Faculty. Have basic knowledge of, or desire to learn about family and consumer sciences, agriculture, horticulture, and natural resources.
  • Applicant must be willing to work both independently and in a team. Creative ideas are encouraged to continuously improve programming. Be willing to drive and chaperone 4-H youth to out-of-county 4-H activities-including multiple day activities.
  • Assume standard office duties, including but not limited to; word processing, copying, faxing, scanning, editing, mailing, phone reception, email, taking meeting minutes, creating spreadsheets, and other general office duties as assigned. Assist all Extension faculty and staff as time permits and as authorized by the Wayne County Home and Community Faculty.  Keep the Home and Community Faculty informed of activities.
  • Assist with reports and paperwork related to faculty programming by maintaining and organizing budgets, travel paperwork, timecards, purchasing and other required reporting and program evaluations.
  • Handle communication with Extension programming participants through mail, flyers, advertisements, letter, email, phone calls, and website. Maintain class registration through phone and website; create, organize, and maintain class rosters.
  • Other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintaining inventory, 4-H curriculums and support to volunteers and clubs, and in determining needs and ordering supplies.
