Our team of caregivers at Akron General Hospital is looking to add a Nurse Technician to the team. We pride ourselves on providing top-quality and patient-centered care all while ensuring the safety of their patients. As a Nurse Technician, you will be responsible for performing various duties assisting in the care of diverse populations of patients.

Your primary duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing and documenting patient care.

  • Assisting in the admission, transfer, and discharge process.

  • Performing treatment procedures.

  • Assisting with pre-operative and post-operative patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN.

  • These include but are not limited to vital signs, weights, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, clean dressing changes, application of external monitoring devices, and removal of urinary Foley Catheters.

  • Assists with keeping patient rooms clean & orderly.

  • Demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English and to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to perform basic clinical mathematics.

  • Competencies in both the professional, technical and clinical knowledge domains must be demonstrated in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

  • Maintains personal growth and development through the ongoing process of formal and informal education.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.

Education:

  • Must be a nursing student in good standing in an accredited nursing school program;

  • OR must be an unlicensed graduate of an accredited nursing school program.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required prior to hire.

Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

  • Must satisfactorily complete hospital orientation.

Work Experience:

  • Must meet the hospital's general requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force rarely, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
