Job Status: This is a regular status, part-time position, up to 10 hours/week

Wage: $17.50/hour

General Summary of Purpose of this Position:

Provides home and personal care for elderly and disabled clients in private residences.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Light Housekeeping:

  • Dish washing, cleaning counters, stove tops, sinks, clean and appliances;

  • Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, dusting furniture;

  • Change bed linens, wash and iron laundry, empty trash and clean living space;

  • Clean bathrooms including toilets, tub, showers, mirrors, basin, and counters

    Household Care Services:

  • Advises and assists client on dealing with household tasks, such as managing household utilities, planning nutritious meals, purchasing and preparing foods;

  • Performs variety of miscellaneous duties as requested such as obtaining household supplies and running errands;

  • Purchases, prepares, and serves food for client.

    Record Keeping:

  • Maintains records of services performed and of apparent condition of client;

  • Participates in evaluating needs of client, and confers with Supervisor and local Service Navigation Coordinator to plan for continuing additional services;

  • Notifies Supervisor of any unusual health or environmental problems or concerns being experienced by the client;

  • Maintains confidentiality of all client information;

  • Maintains time sheets, Homemaker client records, and mileage claim forms in a timely manner and accurately;

  • When given a donation by client, homemaker will provide client with a receipt and turn in donation to Supervisor within the week received.

    Other Duties:

  • Attend scheduled in-service meetings, training and corporate functions as requested.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor, ie vacation fill-in, staffing in an emergency preparedness event, etc.

    Language skills:

  • Read and comprehend basic instructions and present information to others.

  • Basic counting skills;

  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide simple numbers.

    Reasoning ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Driver’s licenses required for performing this position:

  • Montana Class D Driver License;

  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with a wide range of individuals from all socio-economic groups;

  • Ability work with minimal supervision and effectively manage work flow;

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers or claimants;

  • Must be able to travel out of town on as needed basis.

    Education and experience

    Education: The following course(s) of study or class work usually provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position:

  • Graduation from high school or GED is desired.

    Experience: The following kinds of experience usually provide the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position:

  • At least 6 months of experience in homemaker and personal care field is preferred.

  • This position operates under general supervision. The incumbent’s work is primarily assigned by daily workflow and operations. The incumbent is authorized to make decisions as to the timing and sequence of work and the work is performed according to established policies and procedures and/or within applicable laws, rules and regulations governing the tasks being performed.
