Summary A successful candidate in this position will serve as the Waste Management/D&D Program Manager, responsible for evaluation and implementation of the Department of Energy (DOE) and NNSA policies, regulations, and guidance, as well as Federal, State, and local laws, and requirements related to hazardous and radioactive waste management environmental compliance for programs and facilities at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Responsibilities As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will: Provide scientific/engineering advice, guidance and assistance to NNSA program offices or site managers on the interpretation and application of technical requirements and policies, execution of priorities and schedules, implementation of data exchanges and standardization, evaluation of significant modifications and/or alternative approaches, and initiation of revisions or corrective actions as required. Develop estimates for inclusion in program budget, supporting data and justifications for assigned program segments; reviews budget input from contractors, making revisions as appropriate. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience with application of theories, principles, concepts of multiple engineering disciplines and/or of multiple physical science disciplines to serve as an agency representative in overseeing and guiding the management of the radioactive and hazardous waste management programs. Examples of Specialized Experience: Evaluated Federal contractual and funding regulations, policies, and rules to include experience procuring services and developing and justifying operating capital requests. Performed general project management (e.g., systems engineering, value management, and pre-project planning). Managed cost and schedule estimating processes; scope management/baseline development; and contract management. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education 0801 (Engineering) /1301 (Physical Scientist): To qualify for the 0801 series, you must possess: - A degree in professional engineering.
