Navistar, Inc. Indirect Procurement Senior Manager, Logistics and Supply Chain in Lisle, Illinois

Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Indirect Procurement Senior Manager, Logistics and Supply Chain.

The Supply Chain Procurement Team manages $425700 million of spend throughout the supply chain in support of production and aftermarket business units. This spend includes full-truckload, less-than-truckload, parcel, expedited freight, and global freight (air and ocean). In addition to transportation, the team is accountable for contracts related to warehousing, kitting, repackaging, and trade management services. This position will be responsible for all aspects of Supply Chain Procurement with the goal of adding significant value to the company's bottom line, develop transportation management strategies to mitigate impacts of market volatility and improve material cost structure. The candidate will serve as an internal consultant in the areas of supply chain risk management and will regularly report progress to Executive Leadership. The successful candidate will understand, analyze, forecast, communicate, and act on movement in the logistics market. The successful candidate will also utilize advanced data management tools, such as Hadoop, PowerBI, and external transportation management systems to ensure performance and cost visibility for the core business.

This role will be responsible to drive logistics sourcing collaboration strategies across brands within the Volkswagen Group and Traton.

Responsibilities

  • Direct leadership of logistics & supply chain sourcing.

  • Lead team to optimize transportation and distribution costs.

  • Ensure processes and tools are in place to successfully source logistics projects.

  • Executive and stakeholder communication on a regular basis related to project alignment and progress.

  • Interactions with supplier executives where appropriate to support negotiations and build relationships.

  • Lead across TRATON brands and VW in North America to drive collaborative sourcing strategies and align on project tactics.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 10 years of materials management or supply chain experience

  • At least 4 years of management experience

OR

  • Master’s degree

  • At least 8 years of materials management or supply chain experience

  • At least 4 years of management experience

OR

  • At least 12 years of materials management or supply chain experience

  • At least 4 years of management experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Ability to prepare and deliver business presentations to executive leadership and peers

  • Understanding of how Senior Leadership views problems

  • Significant negotiating experience, preferably through complete market cycle

  • Demonstrated record of success with formal and informal leadership

  • At least 6 years of experience in the areas of data analysis, finance, purchasing, or economics

  • Positive Attitude, Ethics and Values which support our company’s values, and a healthy, high performance culture

  • Project/Program management experience

  • Comfort dealing with risk and uncertainty

  • Ability to analyze product costs and understand underlying cost drivers

  • Technical and/or business understanding of truck, ocean, or air freight

  • Ability to take responsibility for multiple projects to achieve goals and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrate ability to formulate, communicate, and implement short and long-term strategies for freight services

  • Experience in effectively managing both internal and external relationships with cross-functional groups and suppliers

  • Experience in participating and managing cross-functional teams

  • Self-starter, strong work ethic and project management experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to collaborate across functions, business units, and companies to achieve goals and optimize cost
