Job Summary

We are seeking a Technical Trainer Manager to lead our Measurement and Regulation (M&R) Technical Training team. This pivotal role involves overseeing a group of Technical Trainers and Coaches across multiple states, including Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the four existing Training Center Managers to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive training program. Responsibilities include developing training strategies, managing training initiatives, evaluating program effectiveness, and providing leadership to trainers and coaches. The ideal applicant will have a strong background in technical training, excellent management skills, and the ability to travel and have a significant presence at the training centers within the designated regions.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures SMS (Safety Management Systems) culture is integrated in all processes and procedures

  • Direct the day-to-day activities of Technical Trainers and Coaches in all six NiSource states, to ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed

  • Manage the Training Center as a center of excellence and ensure utilization metrics are achieved

  • Responsible for annual training plan development, execution and monthly variance analysis that support the operating plan

  • Evaluate training requests and determine resource allocations for synergies between Service, Plant, M&R, Construction and Engineering

  • Build and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with leadership/management

  • Lead governance team and initiate continual improvement initiatives and implementation

  • Assess organizational training needs and make recommendations

  • Build and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with OJT Coaches and other business partners involved in training delivery in the Technical Training Organization

  • Responsible for ensuring employees are properly prepared to work safely, effectively, and in compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation), Regulatory, and Tariff requirements

  • Responsible for budget development for Technical Training and Training Center needs and requirements

  • Manage O&M and Capital expenses to ensure budgeting goals are met or exceeded

  • Provide vision, ideas, and recommendations to senior management regarding the overall training program's advancement.

  • Responsible for promoting the necessary environment for the presentation of professional and effective gas industry training.

  • Responsible for trainer/coach development programs and conducting in-class assessments and feedback to develop skills of training staff

  • Set department goals and objectives

  • Assess and approve the use of outside contractors to deliver training as necessary

  • Provide tours of the training facility to internal and external business partners

  • Apply collective bargaining agreements as they pertain to training

  • Lead Change with Team Members

  • Reinforce and support Skill Enhancement Training Strategy with Stakeholders

  • Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications for Position

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum five years’ experience in technical training and/or operations functions

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in field operations

  • Direct Management experience leading a team.

  • Computer skills proficiency

  • Project management experience

Salary Range:

$107,000.00 - $160,500.00
