Covenant Health MONITOR TECHNICIAN in Lewiston, Maine

Purpose of Position or Position Summary:

The Monitor Technician performs high-level on-going patient surveillance and provides nursing/clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rate/rhythm. Responsible for monitoring, recording, and reporting heart rhythm from patient cardiac monitors, seizure, and fall risk activity for patients with orders of telemetry, and general patient observation. Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge. Conducts maintenance and troubleshooting related to the monitoring equipment on the patient to ensure equipment is in working order to allow for clear monitoring.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

    Experience:

  • 1-3 years of previous healthcare experience, particularly in telemetry

    Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work independently, and respond appropriately in stressful situations

  • Excellent interpersonal, and verbal, and written communication, skills

    Certification and Licensure Requirements:

  • CPR Certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of hire

  • Telemetry certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire
