Argonne National Laboratory Postdoctoral Appointee - ATLAS in Lemont, Illinois

The Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) High Energy Physics Division invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the ATLAS group on physics analysis and the Phase-II Inner Tracker (ITk) Pixel upgrade. The ANL ATLAS group is responsible for the assembly and testing of a large number of ITk silicon pixel modules. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the Argonne module construction program. The candidate is also expected to participate in physics research carried out within the ANL ATLAS group.

The group has strong involvement in Standard Model physics measurements, searches for new physics, Higgs measurements, and performance studies. The Argonne group also has significant involvement in detector operations, TDAQ upgrades, Software and Computing, Machine Learning development, and High Performance Computing.

Position Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in High Energy Physics level with 0 to 5 years of experience or equivalent

  • Excellent physics analysis skills and experience

  • Hardware experience, especially with silicon detectors, is desirable

  • Good general knowledge of current high-energy physics and mathematical methods for physics applications is required

  • Good communication skills are required
