Job Summary and Qualifications

The Certified Surgical Technologist – Surgical First Assistant (CSTFA) - CVOR provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions, including saphenous vein harvesting, that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.

• You will provide expertise in all CVOR cases and demonstrate knowledge and application of Surgical First Assisting in the Perioperative setting

• You will function as a surgical tech in CVOR cases when required.

• You will demonstrate sound knowledge of surgical techniques, both routine and specialized, and performs in a professional manner.

• You will demonstrate ability to use all equipment and supplies necessary for surgical procedures.

• You will demonstrate self-direction above and beyond daily assignments and actively offers assistance to colleagues both within main OR’s, CVOR’s and other areas of surgical services.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate from high school or equivalent program

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support

• Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by an accredited agency. Certification as Surgical First Assistant through a nationally accredited certification agency. Current Certificate as a CSTFA.

• Current experience in Surgery as a CST and experience in CVOR required

• Current experience in an acute clinical care setting
