Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This is a Temporary vacancy for an appointment not to exceed 2 years. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 5 IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMIN) (MI JFHQ), Position Description Number T5710500 and is part of the MI JFHQ Army, National Guard. Responsibilities THIS IS A TITLE 5 EXCEPTED NATIONAL GUARD POSITION This is a Temporary vacancy for an appointment not to exceed 2 years. This position is located in a National Guard JFHQ-State organization under the office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO/G6/J6). The purpose of the position is to serve as a systems administrator on one or more of the systems maintained/administered throughout the state. The incumbent is responsible for installing and testing the system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and software. DUTIES 1. Manages all assigned servers and server resources, analyzing and defining requirements; analyzing workload; monitoring capacity and performance; diagnosing and resolving problems; and developing backup and recovery procedures. Installs, configures, and maintains servers and server resources in support of business processing requirements and ensures that servers are tested for stability. 2. Resolves inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Provides technical assistance to current and potential users to minimize disruptions of computer operations. 3.Maintains liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In your resume you will need to address the general and specialized experience listed below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Months Required: 36 months Experience in scheduling the use of computer time for program processing. Experience collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing. Experience in at least one programming language. Translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language. Experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow. Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. Education Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Certification: Sec+ required You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
