Summary: Onix seeks an experienced Database Data Architect who will be vital in designing and implementing solutions that meet client business needs and support the overall cloud architecture. As a Cloud Data Architect, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, IT leaders, and technical teams to design and implement data architectures, including pipelines, migrations, schemas, security, and operations components. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including client executives, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand their requirements and translate them into robust cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data technologies. Location: Remote, San Francisco Bay Area, Atlanta, Miami, NYC, Northern NJ/Princeton, DC Metro Area/Northern Virginia Primary Responsibilities: Migration Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive migration plans tailored to client needs, ensuring a smooth transition to GCP. Database Design and Optimization: Architect and implement high-performance, scalable, and secure database solutions on GCP to meet client requirements. Migration Execution and Management: Lead the technical implementation of database migrations, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime. Client Engagement and Communication: Serve as the primary technical advisor for clients, building strong relationships and managing expectations throughout the migration process. Team Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate effectively with technical teams, mentor junior architects, and stay current with GCP database technologies. Minimum qualifications: 10 years of experience in a customer-facing or support role. 7+ years of experience as a database architect or a similar role. Proven track record of leading successful database migrations to cloud platforms, preferably GCP. Strong expertise in relational and NoSQL database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra) Expertise in SQL, stored procedures and database administration Experience with data modeling tools and techniques Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and networking concepts. Knowledge of database security best practices. Experience delivering technical presentations and live demonstrations in an enterprise business environment. Experience with architecture design, implementing, tuning, schema design, and query optimization of scalable and distributed systems. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP and their services (e.g., S3, BigQuery, etc). Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Preferred qualifications: Experience as a consultant in the fields of databases, cloud computing, data & information lifecycle management, or Big Data.
