We are searching for aSenior Value Engineering Manager – Packaging Procurementto join our team located at our headquarters in Lake Forest, IL.

Your Role:

As a Senior Value Engineering Manager – Packaging Procurement, you will work closely with executive leadership and operations technical team in supporting and overseeing procurement from a management perspective to ensure required supplies of packaging commodities, consumer paper stocks, and supplier relationships are managed efficiently and effectively.

You will have the opportunity to manage the entire process in the planning of packaging commodities procurement activities, inventory control, and analyzing market intelligence ensuring effectively functioning processes to avoid costly delays and lost opportunities. It will be your responsibility to ensure effective lines of communication to create timely and consistent delivery of commodities using the most appropriate procurement procedures.

You will be responsible for introducing process improvements in the value chain and identify new vendors/suppliers without jeopardizing quality and service delivery while ensuring full compliance with Reynolds Consumer Products procurement rules and regulations and standardized global procurement policies and procedures.

In this role, you will influence internal stakeholders in setting the direction for their functional areas by linking sourcing and business strategies in order to optimize business results. We embrace and accept individual experiences and backgrounds to achieve a diverse and inclusive workplace.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Value Engineering

  • Review current packaging materials and structures. Identify areas for improvement to drive cost savings.

  • Develop alternative packaging or display structures for ease of set-up and manufacturing.

  • Evaluate plant processes to identify areas of improved efficiencies in operations and packing.

  • Research and identify new packaging materials to drive sustainability and/or savings.

  • Conduct regular audits with suppliers regarding packaging styles/materials.

  • Contract Negotiation/Supplier Evaluation

  • Onboard new suppliers; develop scorecard to evaluate full value of supplier relationship.

  • Be responsible for introducing process improvements in the supply chain and identify new vendors/suppliers without jeopardizing quality and service delivery.

  • Develop procedure for capturing quality issues on incoming material (CAR, CAP).

  • Review Material Use and Suppliers

  • Identify areas for potential consolidation of suppliers or resources.

  • Work with team on resourcing of materials at new suppliers (develop procedure to streamline).

  • Deliver value added services, working toward a “best in class” procurement organization.

  • Additional Tasks

  • Ensure effective lines of communication to create timely and consistent delivery of commodities using the most appropriate procurement procedures.

  • Build, develop, and cultivate partnership with internal personnel that provide an objective lens on the business.

The successful candidate will need to have extensive aluminum market knowledge, as he/she will need to track commodity trends. An aggressive negotiating personality will serve the person in this role well. This is a critical leadership role responsible for implementing sustainable category management strategies to drive proactive business insights. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach in a plant environment are critical to the success of this role. This candidate will need to form strategic partnerships with the existing supply-base and develop new suppliers to support plant production demand. Required frequent visits to suppliers will enhance strategic partnerships. This role will influence the bottom line for the Strategic Sourcing Team of the Global Procurement Organization. We need you to have:

  • B.S. required or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • Minimum 4-7 years project procurement management experience, preferably in packaging-related procurement.

  • Thorough knowledge of contractual, procurement, and reporting requirements required.

  • Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team, assess priorities, and manage multiple activities with attention to detail, meeting tight deadlines.

  • Ability to travel extensively (75% to vendors, RCP manufacturing sites, overnights).

  • High proficiency in MS Office.

  • High proficiency in SAP, Spec Right, and other enterprise-wide software platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.

  • Professional certification and membership to a reputable procurement or packaging body.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.

  • Strong level of intellectual curiosity, analytical skills as well as organizational skills with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to exercise patience and fortitude to identify, analyze, and resolve problems logically and systematically.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.

Icing on the cake:

  • MBA or other advanced degree.

  • Prior experience in the Consumer Product Goods industry.
