The Walt Disney Company Technical Estimator in Lake Buena Vista, Florida

This position is responsible for producing various levels of construction estimates in support of project budgeting and construction field activities. The primary focus is the detailed construction estimate to provide Bid Level estimates to the clients, reviewing change order costs from subcontractors and negotiating same. Tracking actual costs to provide a database for of metrics for quick reference to prepare Rough order of Magnitude level estimates to provide the Construction Managers and clients the information required to continue with work based on budgets constraints. Researches and prepares estimates on all ranges of projects up to highly complex projects (e.g. Office refurbishment; Facility modification, Attraction Upgrade, Show/Ride renovation, Water Park Rehab, etc.).

Responsibilities :

  • Proficient in professional knowledge application of estimating concepts and software tools.

  • Develop Construction estimates for highly complex multi-venue projects, through all phases of pre-construction through construction.

  • Drive accurate estimates via peer reviews.

  • Support the development of department estimating training concepts.

  • Proficient in cost analysis of contractor initial costs and subsequent change orders.

  • Leads the negotiations with contractors and vendors to determine value of changes to the work.

  • Stay current with market conditions, perform statistical research and analysis and produce departmental reports as necessary.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide budget estimates for the typical design phases of 30%, 60%, 90% and Bid and Construct.

  • Participate in project team meetings throughout the project life-cycle.

  • Prepare/assist the Construction Manager to prepare the project After Action Analysis Report.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Displays Safety Leadership in the office and in the field environments

  • Five years direct estimating experience

  • In-depth knowledge of construction means, methods, materials and equipment and construction techniques

  • In-depth knowledge of construction estimating at all level from rough order of magnitude to detailed task estimates

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Team player, relationship builder

Required Education :

  • Four year college degree in Construction Management, Architecture or engineering studies
