Risk Officer

We’re hiring! We are looking for a Risk Officer to support the Australia Pacific Risk function and report into the APAC Chief Risk Officer. This position represents an exciting opportunity to help frame the risk based decisions of the APAC business.

What the day will look like

  • Actively participate in the following Aon Risk Committees and Working Groups: Global Risk Committee, Global Enterprise Risk Assessment Op Co, Asia-Pacific Risk Committee.

  • Consistent with the Aon Risk Governance Framework, continue to enhance a fit for purpose governance model for risk management for Aon Asia-Pacific.

  • Ensure that roles and responsibilities for risk management are clearly understood across the region and relevant businesses.

  • Lead the Asia-Pacific risk agenda in consultation with the Asia-Pacific COO and Asia-Pacific RC consistent with communications from the GRC.

  • Implement agreed global and regional risk strategies including the ERM framework.

  • Ensure that data provided to senior leadership, in connection with risk-based decisions, is fit for purpose having regard to any limitations in data collection.

  • Ensure that leadership have a good understanding of the risk profile of the business or solution line.

  • Provide oversight of the systems and controls noting that risks are owned by the respective business areas.

  • Lead, with the subregional COOs, the oversight of internal audit report remediation.

  • With Aon Law & Compliance and relevant business and operation’s colleagues, identify root causes of risk and compliance failures to implement. effective remediation and mitigation measures and controls.

  • Measure and report on the risk culture of the relevant businesses and entities within the Asia-Pacific.

  • Make risk information available for informed decision-making.

  • Encourage Asia-Pacific senior leadership to communicate the importance of managing risk.

  • Regular reporting on the risk profiles, including the results of ERM analyses.

  • Ensure collaboration with Aon Law & Compliance and other functions.

  • Identify the capabilities required by management to appropriately manage risk, in line with relevant local regulatory competency requirements.

  • Report to the Asia-Pacific COO on the risks in any business initiative that has been identified in any Product Governance process that is inconsistent with any agreed risk appetite and tolerances.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Deep understanding of risk management principles, effective risk management and risk drivers.

  • Ability to challenge decisions that may affect the risk profile of an Aon business that causes it to go outside of the risk appetite of Aon.

  • Possess good and sound judgment regarding key risks, including those identified in any relevant enterprise risk management (ERM) analyses, and those that require focused attention.

  • The ability to influence others.

  • Be sensitive to the complexities of business relationships with stakeholders.

  • Be innovative and bring a complete and an objective lens to risk decision making conversations and interactions.

  • Communicate clearly acceptable and informed risk-taking across the relevant businesses and entities.
