As a Manager of Solutions Engineering for Splunk’s GSS (Global Shared Services), you will hire, motivate, and retain a team of world-class pre-sales engineers, who will in turn provide technical and thought leadership of Splunk’s solutions to the sales organisation and to Splunk’s prospects and customers. Both you and your team will work directly with customers while supporting the APAC Sales Engineering community. You will be responsible for ensuring that all team members are consistently delivering sales engineering services that directly address customer pains and emphasis on Splunk’s unique value proposition. During the sales cycle, you and your team will guide prospects and other sales engineers through trials and proof of concepts, demonstrating Splunk’s ability to meet and exceed customer requirements and building a positive relationship that will go beyond the initial transaction and make value contributions to our customers for years to come. Finally, you will have the opportunity to work cross functionally with Sales leaders, Customer Success, and support teams to share your knowledge and experiences to ultimately improve our business and our customers’ success.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage/develop Solutions Engineers through an individual career development plan and continuous real-time feedback.

  • Conduct regular 1:1s with team members to provide constructive feedback and skills development

  • Responsible for recruiting and hiring Solutions Engineers in your assigned region.

  • Proactively build and lead a team of high-performing Solutions Engineers, helping to ensure sales and customer success.

  • Mentor/coach new hires during on-boarding and subsequent phases to ensure effective ramping of skills and capabilities.

  • Set the culture for your organisation, demonstrating and reinforcing Splunk’s values through your leadership style.

  • Collaborates with, escalates to, troubleshoots with the account teams and their respective leadership.

  • Leads, develops or participates in initiatives to achieve goals/objectives, desired outcomes and to resolve post-delivery issues.

  • Working in conjunction with the sales management team to foster a collaborative partnership and to function as the key technical advisor.

  • Work multi-functionally with support, product management, engineering, and other internal teams to ensure alignment with the field, provide process and product feedback, and resolve critical customer situations.

  • Establish and actively maintain cross-functional solid relationships within the organisation, including the leadership team, peers, managers, and Sales Engineers.

  • Responsible for sales alignment and partnerships in driving pipeline initiatives, forecast calls, and technical support, coupled with general needs of the business.

  • Oversee timely expense reporting to ensure compliance with budget management.

  • Ability to manage, oversee, and ensure timely adherence/compliance for numerous organisational administrative tasks for your team.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in leading Enterprise Solutions Team.

  • 5+ years proven experience in technically selling and supporting software products to IT organizations.

  • Proven ability to manage/develop people in a fast-paced environment with consideration of the various stakeholders and nurturing interpersonal relationships.

  • Proven experience working in a dynamic environment, adapting to process / workflow changes, and juggling many daily tasks.

  • Demonstrated experience managing a presales shared service organisation, preferably in APAC.

  • Splunk technical certifications an asset.

  • Location preferred in Malaysia.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.

  • Passionate about technical sales and working with customers.

  • Ambitious and self-motivated with a high emotional intelligence (EQ).

  • Highly coachable with a strong desire to improve and grow as a professional.

  • Travel when required for internal events across APAC and AMER.

Note:

OTE Range

For sales roles starting salaries are expressed as On Target Earnings or OTE (OTE = base + on-target incentives in the form of sales commission plans).

Malaysia

On Target Earnings: MYR 360,000.00 - 495,000.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to OTE, this role may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
