The Role: Country Risk Analyst, Asia-Pacific, Global Intelligence & Analytics (GIA)

The Team:

We are a team of subject matter experts developing forward-looking insights and analysis underpinning the GIA products and advisory, supporting clients to anticipate and manage critical business risks as well as leverage strategic opportunities. GIA’s Insights & Analysis cover verticals include country risk, economics, comparative industries, maritime, trade and supply chain. Our structure is evolving in line with our client needs and to deliver on our business vision – which is to enrich our output through more integrated and holistic analysis within and across regional markets and industry sectors.

You will join a group of country risk analysts and advance cross-capability collaboration. You will partner within Insights & Analysis and across GIA verticals to ensure that we deliver timely actionable intelligence and unique insights to our clients and across S&P Global.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver client driven strategic research on political, business, geopolitical and security-related risks for the APAC region. These will include government stability, expropriation, contract risks, regulatory risks, terrorism, civil unrest, and war.

  • Work with risk experts and economists across GIA to deliver research on sectors shaping geopolitical, security and regulatory dynamics across region, as well analysis on topics related to areas of expansion for GIA, including ESG, supply chain and trade. Key regional focus for the role will be on South and Southeast Asia.

  • Maintain existing products and deliverables, meeting S&P Global’s methodological and high-quality standards, and ensuring they reflect latest analytical views in a forward-looking, commercially relevant and timely manner.

  • Maintain and grow a resilient and flexible network of external contributors across countries of coverage.

  • Engage in innovative approaches to analysis and forecasting, including via the uses of new research methods, tools and GIA proprietary data.

  • Interact directly with clients through formal presentations, consultancy projects, tailored client work, and media engagements.

  • Uphold S&P Global's high standard of quality and style (verbal and written communication) and a regional team culture espousing key values of inclusion, diversity, agility, accountability, commercial relevance and collaboration.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in politics, international relations, or a closely related field.

  • Deep understanding of the region’s political, security and business environment.

  • 2+ years of related analysis experience.

  • Highly effective organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to stay on task, meet deadlines and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passion for identifying, unpacking, and addressing complex analytical problems.

  • Excellent communication skills (written as well as verbal) and fluency in English.

  • Work independently and regularly collaborate with colleagues across multiple time zones.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong self-awareness and cultural intelligence.

  • Experience working or living in-region desired.

  • Local language proficiency desired.

  • Flexibility to cover and learn about a new country/region.
