Google Software Engineer, Android Runtime, ChromeOS in Kraków, Poland

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Java, Kotlin or C++.

  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

  • Experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products.

  • Experience in developing or optimizing Android frameworks/products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • Experience building and optimizing performance of Android apps or games.

  • Experience contributing to or customizing the Android platform.

  • Experience developing desktop operating systems.

Android Runtime for Chrome (ARC) enables Android apps to run on ChromeOS. The overall ARC team’s mission is to bring the best apps and games to ChromeOS by designing and building the Android on Desktop experience.

Chrome OS delivers quality computing at scale to provide universal and unfettered access to information, entertainment, and tools. Our mission is to empower anyone to create and access information freely through fast, secure, simple, and intelligent computing.

  • Write and test product or system development code.

  • Improve the user experience of Android apps on ChromeOS through improvements to Android framework and ChromeOS system.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Program Manager, UX, Quality Assurance) to design and implement new features and system services that improve the user experience on large-screen Android devices.

  • Build and maintain automated tests to ensure that Android apps and system services meet performance expectations on ChromeOS.
