About you and this role

Do you prefer a manufacturing role where you are able to utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and trouble shoot a plant on an empowered team? In this role, you will operate batch equipment in an automated manufacturing environment where chemicals are being safely produced. Employee engagement and commitment to Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) improvements is critical to the success of the site.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate, respond to, and troubleshoot technical equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Understand the key process variables which impact product quality and consistency and understand how to control and troubleshoot them.

  • Participate in all safety programs and required training; demonstrate behaviors with a clear safety focus for all employees and the community; engage in all plant initiatives; identify near-miss incidents.

  • Serve as Immediate Response Leader and Shift Activity Coordinator, as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all procedures, whether standard operating or safety-aligned.

  • Develop a culture of empowerment - meaning to work within the boundaries established through the work processes and technology that we operate at the site.

  • Operate a forklift.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Current, valid US driver's license.

  • Able to work 12 hour, rotating shifts.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical dexterity and strength.

  • Lift, push, and pull.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.

  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.

  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.

  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.

Preferred qualifications

  • An Associate degree of Applied Science in Process Technology degree or science related field (Biology, Chemistry, etc.).

  • Industrial work experience in chemical or manufacturing industry.

  • Experience operating Fork Lift, or other powered equipment.

Preferred Skills

  • Mechanically adept and able to apply fundamentals of physical chemistry to properly operate, maintain and improve the performance of the equipment within their area of responsibility.

  • Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.

  • Effectively manages multiple competing priorities.

  • Has strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision.

Additional notes

  • The ability to work a full shift, come to work on time, work overtime and holidays as needed and the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation is an essential function of this position.
