Summary:

Job Purpose

  • The Exercise Specialist is responsible for development and supervising all components of Minges Wellness Center exercise programming. The exercise specialist provides exercise and fitness education to the community on and off site.

  • EDUCATION

  • Have bachelor’s degree in an exercise related field. Prefer prior experience in adult fitness, special population exercise programming. Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Sports Medicine or Physical Education/Fitness.

  • EXPERIENCE

  • Hospital based experience, internship in medically based fitness facility preferred. Working experience in a healthcare facility preferred. Must have experience writing exercise prescriptions, outcome measurements, goal setting, individual behavior modification training. Experience in a group exercise setting necessary.

  • LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

  • BCLS certified. Exercise certification and /or ACSM certification preferred. Must be willing to attain ACSM certification within 6 months of hire. ACLS certification required for Cardiac Rehab position.
