Summary of Position:

Assist classroom teachers in preparing and maintaining a safe learning environment, setting up centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies. Conduct group time, small groups, center time and outside activities. Substitute for absent teachers and provide extra help in all classrooms as needed. Interact with Child Development students, modeling developmentally appropriate practice in all areas. Know and follow all Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Childcare Centers and NAEYC Standards as well as policies and procedures of CTC Child Development Lab School

Minimum Required Education:

High School Diploma or GED required, and 6 hours of Child Development/Early Childhood courses from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required and preferably enrolled in the child development program Or a CDA and preferably enrolled in the child development program

Minimum Required Experience:

One semester of lab experience in a lab school or 6 months working with children (0 -5 years)in a licensed child care facility

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the children.
  2. Knowledge of child growth and development.
  3. Ability to understand and provide developmentally appropriate activities.
  4. Ability to work with administrators, co-workers, students, parents and children.
  5. Know and carry out requirements of the Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Childcare and NAEYC Standards.
  6. Know and follow all requirements from CTC Employee Handbook relating to care of the children.

Hours:

Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week
