Shift Overview

This position is currently available for 2nd. 2nd Shift: Monday – Friday 3PM to 11PM with paid lunch, voluntary overtime before or after shift.

Essential Functions

  • Interprets advanced engineering drawings and understands design requirements including datums, critical dimensions and tolerances. Determines the best possible procedures, writes and proves programs, setup and operate CNC machining and/or turning centers to achieve required specifications.

  • Able to effectively program, setup and operate multiple CNC machining and/or turning centers producing high quality parts. Must constantly monitor parts production to ensure adherence to blueprint tolerances.

  • Able to shape, sharpen, set cutter, and adjust own tools to achieve desired print tolerance.

  • Knowledgeable and able to setup bore gauges and other measuring equipment. Inspects own work at each step (setup) to enable timely continuance and ensure quality parts.

  • Produces a large variety of complicated parts and may offer creative/innovative machining, tooling and fixturing improvement solutions to supervision and Engineering personnel to reduce production costs and improve quality.

  • Assists management in developing quotations on potential future projects.

  • Every employee is expected to:

  • Complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement.

  • Work safely and maintain the work area with high standards of housekeeping.

  • Perform self-inspection and other required quality control functions at the employee's workstation.

  • Perform required Preventive Maintenance activities on machinery and/or equipment operated.

  • Train and/or assist in the development of personnel.

  • Do the work in lower levels when assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.

  • Previous machining experience.

  • Ability to read blueprints, use mathematical and technical skills.

  • Ability to use standard inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.).

  • Works independently with minimal supervisory direction.

  • Effectively communicates with and instructs fellow employees.

  • Lifting requirements:

  • Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Lifting devices are available and recommended.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related technical school training or three (3) to five (5) years machining experience.

  • Advanced blueprint reading, mathematical and technical skills.
