CU Answers Operations Support Specialist in Kentwood, Michigan

POSITION SUMMARY

 

This is an entry level position where the main function is following established procedures to open and assign tickets based on log and event review, network monitoring, and equipment configuration auditing. Other opportunities within the Network Services Department will be available based on tasks assigned by the NetOps Manager.

 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Monitor daily non-critical system event logs and alerts:

ability to research events

proactively escalates issues to appropriate resources

parse event logs

produce and read system reports

  1. Physical review of data center equipment:

review of server alerts

monitor datacenter temperature and humidity

logging generator hours, start times, and faults

verifying UPS and PDU levels

maintain server space (cleaning)

  1. Reports review:

reviewing client monitoring reports

issues and tracking persistent issues

occasional collaboration with technical teams to ensure issues are resolved

  1. Equipment auditing

auditing client equipment against current best practices

performing vulnerability scans for scheduled clients

perform internal equipment audits on a set schedule

  1. Hardware/Software inventory

maintain database of hardware/software assets

maintain system documentation

track and report on product warranty and license expirations

  1. Other duties as directed by Management

     

Job Qualifications

High school graduate required. Some college preferred.

Technical aptitude and familiarity with Windows operating systems required.

Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Willingness to collaborate with other departments and learn new systems.

Self-motivated; ability to effectively and independently manage time.

Attention to detail to complete work accurately by following established procedures.

Valid driver's license required.
