Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities of a CDL driver include:

• Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensure vehicle safety, and report maintenance issues.

• Loading and Unloading: Secure loads, assist with loading/unloading, and verify deliveries.

• Driving and Route Management: Operate the vehicle safely, follow routes and schedules, and navigate efficiently.

• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to driving laws, maintain a valid CDL and endorsements, and follow company policies.

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections as required by the DOT.

• Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers, address delivery concerns, and ensure satisfaction.

• Safety: Follow safety protocols, use safety equipment, and stay informed about hazardous materials regulations.

• Communication: Communicate with dispatchers, report delays or issues, and provide delivery updates.

• Emergency Handling: Respond to accidents or breakdowns and follow reporting procedures.

• Trip Planning: Plan routes for fuel efficiency and timely delivery, considering traffic, weather, and road conditions.
