Actalent Structural Engineer in Kennedy Space Center, Florida

Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Description

As a Structural Engineer, you will review, prepare, and check complex structural engineering deliverables such as steel calculations, specifications, and material requisitions. You will also coordinate technical documents with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams. Your role will involve preparing technical reports related to specific design issues, managing assigned project activities, assisting in constructability reviews, and supporting construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor or coach for subordinate engineers and designers, schedule and coordinate off-project review requirements for engineering deliverables, and lead and/or participate in technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and construction teams.

Hard Skills

  • Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures

  • Thorough knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, and ASCE 7

  • Proficiency in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD

  • Experience with CADD applications, such as Revit or Tekla

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for steel structures

  • Understanding of work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Soft Skills

  • Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally

  • Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client
