Honeywell Supplier Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies (FMandT) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administrations (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. Summary

The Supplier Engineer role is responsible for providing engineering support of highly technical and advanced manufacturing and quality management processes; may require specialized qualifications, knowledge, and skill. Other expectations include project management, designing, developing, and evaluating quality control functions on highly complex engineering projects and offering innovative solutions to technical problems by applying advanced engineering technologies. Additionally, the role applies engineering tools to evaluate gaps in supplier quality management systems and implements processes to improve and prevent issues.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Recognized authority within area of expertise with wide versatility of experience and capability.
  • Works under general administrative direction occasionally with some latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions.
  • Leads teams to provide quality input for the development and improvement of supplier quality management systems.
  • Develops and executes supplier improvement activities by assessing technical capabilities, providing training, and ensuring conformance with requirements.
  • Performs project planning and manages project resources, including multiple individuals and disciplines, to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Leads development of methods and documents detailed processes for supplier improvement and training to requirements.
  • Develops and monitors supplier quality metrics, levels, and trends across the supply base to identify any actions required for organizational improvement.
  • Mentors lower-level engineers establishing operating procedures on new products and components.
  • Utilizes data to define and recommend new or improved quality processesto assure product quality and resolve processing, inspection, and design problems.
  • Coordinates execution of containment, root cause analysis, and effectiveness reviews for identified quality system issues at suppliers.
  • Evaluates and implements innovations and technological advances that improve quality, reduce flowtime, improve productivity, and enhance operational surety.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships and communication plans with suppliers.
  • Interacts with design agency, auditors, internal product teams, andsupplier counterparts to resolve moderate to complex, systemic quality issues.
You Must Have
  • Bachelor of Science degree rom an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).
