Burns & McDonnell Staff Accountant - Corporate Treasury (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description The Staff Treasury Accountant will be responsible for supporting the company’s corporate card program, bank account administration, cash optimization strategies, intercompany settlement, letters of credit, and collaborating closely with various departments. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to process improvement. We are seeking a candidate who brings a positive attitude and high energy to our team. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Program Administrator for Corporate Credit Card Program, which includes, but is not limited to, supporting the issuance and deactivation of cards, supporting cardholder inquiries, providing reporting on spending activities and trends, and monitoring employee compliance with the Corporate Card Policy

  • Monitor bank accounts to ensure optimal liquidity

  • Support the opening and closing of bank accounts

  • Assist with cash forecasting and entity-level account analysis

  • Assist with cash fraud prevention efforts, which includes monitoring payment exceptions flagged by banks

  • Facilitate review of electronic payments

  • Prepare intercompany cash settlements

  • Support the issuance of letters of credit to clients and vendors on an as-needed basis

  • Support financial statement audit

  • Assist in the month-end reporting requirements

  • Assist with treasury initiatives and projects aimed at improving processes and efficiency

  • Identify opportunities for automation and streamlining of treasury functions

  • Collaborate with other accounting and finance departments

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

  • Four (4) years of accounting/auditing experience required

  • Superior computer skills with particular expertise in Excel

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Self-Motivator

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to prioritize tasks

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability and desire to work independently and with a team

  • Ability to work and communicate with various levels of management

  • Strong work ethic
