ABF Freight Shop Manager in Kansas City, Missouri

General description of duties:
Direct and expedite flow of equipment undergoing repairs in the shop.
Distribute repair assignments to personnel and make decisions relative to mechanical repairs.
Train new mechanics and apprentices, hire, schedule, and appraise performances of personnel.
Address customer complaints and resolve problems as they arise.
Work with Operations and Transportation to better serve their equipment needs.
Make economic decisions on repair costs.
Work with outside repair vendors on controlling costs and providing timely turnaround times.
Perform technical approvals in the MMS Approvals System.
Handle budgetary responsibilities.
Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
Other duties and projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
Experience: Minimum, five years’ related experience and/or training in equipment maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred. Minimum, four years’ management experience, preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
