Honeywell Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner in Kansas City, Missouri

In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies (FMandT) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administrations (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Summary

The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (OHNP) will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining the health and safety of employees in the workplace by assisting in the administration of daily clinic operations at KCNSC Medical Care Services. With oversight from the Site Occupational Medical Director (SOMD), the OHNP is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all occupational medical programs in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations to achieve the highest level of health among employees.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive health assessments, develop and implement health programs, and ensure compliance with occupational health regulations. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Diagnose, treat, and prevent occupational illnesses and injury. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients conditions. Perform medical surveillance exams. Perform minor procedures including but not limited to suturing, stapling, and splinting etc. Provide emergency medical care for all persons when circumstances warrant.
  • Conduct thorough physical exams in accordance with established CFR regulations (e.g., 10 CFR 1046, 10 CFR 850, and 10 CFR 712).
  • Refer, when necessary, patients with occupational-incurred injuries or diseases to the appropriate panel of consultants, and non-occupational patients to their private physicians.
  • Coordinate and participate in immunization and related preventive medicine programs.
  • Render medical determination of fitness for duty pursuant to pertinent CFRs, essential job functions and clinical best practices. Perform Return to Work evaluations.
  • Participate in Workers Compensation/Insurance Claims reviews.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with Health, Safety and Environment (HSandE), Human Resources, Senior Leadership, medical service providers, and other stakeholders to identify workplace hazards and recommend suitable interventions while ensuring the health and safety of all employees. Participate in and embrace KCNSCs strategic initiatives.
  • Create educational content regarding overall employee health and wellbeing and educate employees on health promotion, disease prevention, and safe work practices.
  • Utilize independent judgment, creativity, initiative, and ability to a ply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose technical correspondence and reports.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in occupational health nursing.
  • May include direct supervision of medical staff including hiring and training, planning, and assigning work, providing performance appraisals, supporting career development.
  • Communicate with others in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while maintaining confidentiality.
You Must Have

Masters degree in nursing 8 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in occupational medicine, urgent care, and/or emergency setting. Active Missouri State Nursing License as a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Practitioner Ability to travel up to 10% of the time Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business United States Citizenship Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
