Responsibilities

As a Diesel Technician, your responsibilities will likely involve a combination of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the company's fleet of trucks, trailers, and other heavy machinery. Here's a breakdown of what you might expect:

  • Preventative Maintenance: You'll perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, tire inspections, and lubrication to keep the fleet operational and prevent breakdowns.

  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: When a vehicle experiences issues, you'll use your knowledge and diagnostic tools to identify the source of the problem. This might involve using computer software, visual inspections, and testing components.

  • Repairs: Once the problem is diagnosed, you'll fix it by repairing or replacing faulty parts. This could range from simple repairs like replacing a light bulb to more complex tasks like rebuilding an engine.

  • Inspections: You may be involved in pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and ready for operation. This could involve checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, brakes, and other safety features.
