Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. Responsibilities Incumbent assists in a variety of technical and specialized clerical tasks to support library work such as acquiring, processing, distributing and disposing of library materials. Registers new customers, explains circulation and library use policies, reserves materials, checks items in and out, and clears rotating personnel. Answers general questions about library and base resources and redirects customers as appropriate. Assists customers in locating and utilizing library materials, using library technology, navigating online resources, and placing requests. Shelves returned and new materials following current guidelines. Provides physical processing for new library materials, including limited copy-cataloging under the supervision of a senior staff member. Answers general questions about library and base resources and redirects customers as appropriate. Responsible for opening and closing routines of the facility. Empties the external book return. Takes requests for reserves and interlibrary loans, and periodically checks to see that requests are filled. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A minimum of one year of experience in responsible library support services or comparable services. Must have the ability to operate basic library equipment such as photocopier, digital scanner, computers, and audiovisual equipment. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Must be able to obtain and maintain TIER-1 Child Care (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age. A five (5) year re-investigation will be conducted for this suitability clearance.
