Actalent Software Engineer in Kalamazoo, Michigan
The purpose of our team is to architect, build and maintain a suite of data-driven applications. The technology stack integrates IoT, people, process, and product into an enterprise-wide solution relied upon to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. A real-time transactional, event-based, state-based, and time-series data mesh will be offered through interactive visual representations; where actions may be taken to proactively influence a current state’s impact on manufacturing quality, efficiency and on-time performance.
The candidate will play a key role in evolution of our enterprise-wide solution. Following an Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Component-Based Designs are implemented in Ignition-based-Jython, T-SQL, MQL, Telit IoT transaction manager, and programmable logic controllers.
This position is focused heavily on systems architecture, requiring a deep understanding of software design principles, extensive experience in system dynamics, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
• Agile software design through sysML: use case, activity, sequence, block, and data object models, and mockups
• Lead team collaboration events to identify core purpose, architecture, data requirements, and reusable scope, prior to software construction
• Provide technical guidance to development team, review design documents, and ensure adherence to best practices and design standards
• Create prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate design decisions and showcase potential solutions
• Design, refactor, and maintain configurable solutions that bring value to multiple sites, and customization is parameterized outside of the base code
• Deep understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
• Coordinate implementation, system validation, business acceptance and synchronize lessons learned and system improvements between sites
• Measure ongoing business impact and performance through built-in execution statistics
• Validate factory knowledge reports and underlying data quality
• Recommend new applications and platforms
• The role consists of both production support and project development
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field.
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in architecting systems, creating and implementing design plans
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience leading a team of developers, delegating tasks, coordinating deliverables
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with process engineers/business analysts to translate functional requirements into technical requirements and making architectural decisions
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience with overseeing projects
• Minimum 5 years of experience in conducting code reviews
• Competent with T-SQL and database theory and structures
• Foundational knowledge in networking and client-server transactions
• Broad contemporary understanding of information technologies and trends
• Familiar with design by contract and defensive programming techniques, error handling, testing and N-tier architectures
• Experience with object-oriented design principles and design patterns, data models and ability to relate entities to the manufacturing business domain
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $64.00/hr.
