Act as instructor/co-instructor providing Skills of Blindness Training in a residential environment to include, but not limited to the following training areas: Orientation & Mobility, Assistive Technology, Computers/Keyboarding, Personal Management, Low Vision, activities of daily living, etc. to participants in training at the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons Training Center (BSBPTC). This position also works with other vocational counselors/teachers in a team approach that encourages a path toward successful, post-secondary education, employment outcomes, and independent living skills. This position is a key position in helping participants in training build confidence, help participants travel safely and successfully in various environments indoors/outdoors to their intended locations, and aid in the development of individual identity and purpose. This position works with adults and transition aged youth who are blind or low vision.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
