The anticipated salary range for this role is between $79,000.00 and $120,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

New addition to Accounting team to assist and support the team with month-end close, on-going business as usual deliverables, and CUSO level driven initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end close deliverables - including recording of journal entries, preparation of all supporting schedules including balance sheet reconciliations, balance sheet and revenue / expenses variance analysis.

  • Ensure financial statements are presented accurately and in accordance with GAAP.

  • Assists in preparation and review of various internal management reports, external reporting, and year-end audited financial statements.

  • Assist with interim/annual audit processes with internal and external auditors.

  • Work closely with Product Control, Regulatory Reporting, and Planning teams to provide excellent internal customer service.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of accounting policies, processes and procedures.

  • Ensure adherence to internal control processes and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of financial reporting, general accounting practices including U.S. GAAP.

  • Oracle general ledger experience required.

  • OTC derivatives experience required.

  • Self-starter, proactive, takes initiative and ownership of work product.

  • Ability to work independently, results driven, and able to collaborate with a team.

  • Proven history of process improvements and efficiencies gained.

  • Strong Microsoft office skills.

  • Min 7 years of experience in financial service industry.

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (with concentration in Accounting) or Accounting Degree.

  • CPA preferred but not required.
