Job Summary

The Fixed Income Operations Associate is responsible for facilitation of client onboarding, trade processing, problem resolution, settlement and support of the trading and sales desks. The role involves working closely with Trading & Sales, Compliance, Technology and Firm counterparties. The role is very dynamic and works with all departments, including senior management. Operations Associates are empowered with the ability to make changes and a difference in the firm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to senior associates and Sales and Trading Desk and Compliance.

  • Assists in completing financing tasks related to executing transactions.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Advanced financial concepts, practices, and procedures used within the securities industry.

  • Corporate and Municipal issuers of debt.

  • Financial Markets and Products.

  • Basic business case analysis.

Skill in

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce documents such as reports, graphics, electronic communication, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Organization sufficient to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Qualitative and Quantitative analysis sufficient to make recommendations and reach conclusions.

  • Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong communication and problem management skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and working knowledge of Bloomberg systems

  • Ability to understand technological trade flows across multiple platforms

Ability to

  • DTCC Institutional Trade Processing tools including CTM / Alert

  • Working with counterparties and communicating issues and potential solutions to problems.

  • Working with P&S groups street wide and familiarity with CNS, Contracts and Euroclear settlements

  • Multi-task and work on a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Efficiently manage time and resources in order to overcome quantitative and analytical challenges as they arise.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Work under stress created by time deadlines and work volume fluctuations.

  • Prepare and deliver clear, effective and professional presentations.

  • Communicate both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization and external clients.

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance or related field

  • We are open to a recent college graduate.

  • OR

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training as approved by Human Resources

Licenses/Certifications

  • SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.

  • FINRA Series 99, 7, Series 63 and Series 53 or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire

Education

Bachelor’s: Accounting, Bachelor’s: Business Administration, Bachelor’s: Finance
