The Position

The Executive Director, Asset Development Team (ADT) Leader will have accountability to lead cross-functional Asset Development Teams in the development of key late-stage pipeline assets. She/he will be responsible for the development of an aligned asset development strategy, driving the planning, execution, and delivery of cross-functional aligned program objectives and milestones. She/He acts as “face of the program” towards the organization to ensure alignment between asset strategy, program objectives and deliverables with functional priorities and resources.

Within the context of established governance model, the ADT leader provides quality input for efficient and informed decision-making, represents ADT in discussion with governance bodies and functional leaders to maximize asset value through balancing risks minimization, time-to-market, and budget reliability.

The ADT leader drives actively risk identification, mitigation, and issue resolution, developing scenarios to facilitate functional alignment, and enable informed decision-making for progress. The ADT leader drives the development of a high performing ADT to ensure the delivery of the development strategy and realization of asset value. The ADT leader drives the active and effective stakeholder engagement and communication (both internal and external) in alignment with the asset strategy and program vision.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Master’s degree in a scientific, life science, or technical discipline required.

  • Ten plus years in the life-sciences, pharmaceutical industry, with at least 8+ years’ experience in program development leadership and management in the context of pharmaceutical product development.

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge and experience across scientific research, clinical development, program management along the pharmaceutical research and development life cycle.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and effective collaboration in a matrix organization, including multi-cultural, globally dispersed teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in effective interfacing and communication within all levels of a company and partners including C-level executives.

  • Strong ability to think strategically and operationally with proven ability to solve complex business issues with significant ambiguity.

  • Adaptive leadership style, and ability to guide and influence multidisciplinary teams without formal authority.

  • Highly collaborative orientation with outstanding communication and relationship management skills, and stakeholder management.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for bridging scientific and business constituents, negotiating objectives, deliverables, budget, and integrated timelines.

  • Significant breadth of experience across drug development including non-clinical, clinical, regulatory, market access, and commercial functions.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills with strategic mindset and value-driven business acumen.

  • A ‘hands on’ attitude – comfortable diving into execution and operational matters, while maintaining focused on long-term strategy and objectives

Preferred Education

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, MBA) strongly preferred.
