May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends and call as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned site(s). May be required to flex hours/shift as needed to support the needs of the department. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation. Prepares patient for procedures Maintains knowledge of current MRI safety practices and utilizes such as part of daily practice. Assumes responsibility for persons entering Zones I-IV. Provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Applies principles and policies of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others. Reviews patients\' clinical history ensuring that appropriate scan is ordered and labs are within range- reviewing with radiologist and/or provider as necessary. Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Reports and documents MRI safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol. Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination. Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. Starts and maintains intravenous access, to include power injectable implanted ports/specialized lines Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary. Operates MRI scanner, associated equipment, and power injector to produce cross section images of patient anatomy for diagnostic purposes Documents all information pertinent to MRI procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
