Lutheran's Hultquist Place, an assisted living facility, is seeking a full-time, day shift Laundry Assistant. The preferred hours for this position are 6am to 2pm, however we may be able to adjust the hours to better meet your needs. Shifts may vary each week and includes every other weekend, at minimum.
Purpose: This position performs a wide variety of laundry related tasks designed to ensure that the resident population of the campus receives clean and sanitary laundry items.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience working in a commercial laundry setting is preferred.
Job Duties:
Collects, sorts, weighs and loads soiled laundry into washing machines, empties clean laundry into bins
Dries, folds and irons clean laundry as directed
Counts and stacks clean laundry onto laundry carts and transports laundry to the units.
Keeps all laundry equipment clean and maintains a neat and sanitary work area
Maintains adequate supply of chemicals in the washroom and adds new pails as needed.
Takes calls from units requesting additional laundry and ensures units receive the requested laundry in a timely basis
Ensures proper record keeping including load weights, classifications and chemical usage and lint removal
Practices universal precautions and proper hand washing techniques
Adheres to all safety rules and regulations
Folds, hangs and delivers resident personal laundry on a timely basis, ensuring all items are properly labeled
Interacts with resident and follows up on requests in a timely manner
Assists with linen inventories
Operates washers and dryers, tub scales, laundry tubs, carts, automatic chemical dispensing system, hot label iron, clothes iron.
Observes rules and uses personal protective equipment goggles, gloves, gowns, aprons and masks.
Operates telephone, electric fan, hand truck, water hose, mop/bucket/wringer, cleaning chemicals.
Works well with others and is a team player
Work to complete work in a timely manner
Stays busy and makes best use of time while on the clock
Does not use company phone or cell phone while on the clock. Personal cell phones are only used during break time
Is flexible and able to accept new direction in a positive way
Manages stress well and communicates needs appropriately.
Performs basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
Follows written and oral directions as directed
Is flexible and may be required to work overtime
Is in proper uniform everyday: appropriate pants, uniform top, slip resistant shoes, ID badge.
