Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.00 Per hour

SALARY WILL BE BASED ON CURRENT STATE EMPLOYMENT AS WELL AS SKILL AND EXPERTISE

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Serve as the subject matter expert onCandida auristesting at BPHL.

Collaborate closely with other laboratorians, hospital-acquired infections (HAI)/ antibiotic resistance (AR) program epidemiologists, infection control personnel, and national stakeholders.

Perform outreach to private providers and laboratories and encourage submittal ofCandida aurisisolates for testing at BPHL.

Manage allCandida aurisclinical specimens submitted for testing: receipt, testing, forwarding to other sections of the laboratory or to outside collaborators if needed.

Perform weekly testing of clinical and colonization isolates ofCandida auris: confirmatory ID by MALDI-TOF, phenotypic drug testing, testing by molecular methods, and reporting results in a timely manner.

Participate in periodic proficiency and competency testing.

Provide updates to ensure and maintain the funding of the program.

Prepare weekly reports detailing testing outcomes and forward to BPHL leadership.

Ensures the necessary testing supplies are available.

Reviews quality control and quality assurance reports, keep informed on the latest guidance materials and pertinent literature.

Review the testing SOPs on a yearly basis and operate the necessary changes/updates when needed.

Perform other duties as requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of microbiology and molecular biology. Previous work experience in public health is a plus.

Knowledge and understanding of laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols.

Knowledge and understanding of program policies and administrative guidance related to infectious diseases.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to analyze, evaluate, research, and interpret scientific guidelines, protocols, policies, and regulations.

Qualifications:

Minimum: BSc degree in chemical/biological sciences with six months experience. Coursework experience acceptable.

Preferred: MSc degree with two or more years of work experience.
