Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground, buried, and aerial, telephone cables by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

§ Performs job surveys by conducting ride outs of new work to provide feedback for pricing and staffing need.

§ Reviews proposed construction plans and schematic drawings to ensure that proposals are compatible with the existing plant and adhere to State/Federal and contract regulations

§ Inspects construction sites and installations to ensure service deadlines are met.

§ Directs and coordinates testing and inspecting of work for QC and completion.

§ Prepares budget determines workforce requirements and establishes work schedules to meet service loads.

§ Manage payroll and billing process to ensure accuracy.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Construction Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fiber experience a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities

5 years outside plant construction experience. Familiar with the placement of aerial facilities, buried facilities (direct and underground). Ability to read and understand utility prints.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel and Word software.

Valid Driver's License.
