NER ADOPTION SPECIALIST

Anticipated Vacancy

This is a highly responsible, advanced professional position requiring extensive knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect and the laws, rules and applicable policies that guide practice. In addition, extensive knowledge of adoption laws and processes along with work experience with child welfare programs and adoption cases is required.

Specific duties and responsibilities of the position include:

• Review and analyze adoption case files, investigative files, background screening information, levels of licensure and program data to determine compliance with laws, rules, policies, and procedures and to assess the quality of services provided to children and their families. Complete written reports documenting reviews and analysis.

• Prepare for and attend appeal hearings and provide technical assistance and/or training as needed to region staff.

• Conduct timely analysis of cases and reports contained in the Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) and other departmental information systems to assess performance, identify potential problem areas, and take appropriate follow-up action to ensure compliance with applicable statutes, rules, policies, and department mandates.

• Conduct adoption competency training for region staff and Community Based Care Agencies (CBCs).

• Provide adoption technical assistance to region staff and Community Based Care (CBCs).

• Participate in Adoption Review Committee staffing’s and provide follow-up report summaries as required by statute, rule, and policy.

• Oversee the process for terminations of extended foster care youth.

• Serve as the Region's Family Safety Program representative on the Fee Waiver Committee and participate in staffing’s.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge in Florida's Practice Methodology.

• Experience in Florida’s official electronic system of record, Florida Safe Family Network (FSFN). Knowledge of CCWIS. Experience in Microsoft Office with the child welfare system, excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills relative to diverse populations in academic, public health, and community settings.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines.

• Analytical, decision making, and organizational skills.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Current/Active Child Protection Certification from the FCB

  • Minimum 5 years of child welfare experience - 3 years of which must be in child protective investigations.

  • Must maintain an active/valid driver license.

  • Must be able and willing to travel throughout the Region as required.

  • Must be a subject matter expert in Florida's Child Welfare Safety Practice framework/model.

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Must have documented training experience.
