Caris Life Sciences Senior Accounts Payable and SOX Specialist in Irving, Texas

Position Summary

The Senior Accounts Payable and SOX Specialist ensures the accuracy of accounts payable invoices by reviewing transactions for correct coding and 3-way matching, processes payment run batches, assists with IRS required reporting, and prepares the subledger for month end close. This position is located at the Irving, TX headquarters of Caris Life Sciences, directly reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, and will work closely with the Finance and Accounting teams to produce accurate and timely transactional processing related to purchasing and financial operations. The successful candidate will utilize strong business understanding, accounts payable expertise, and solid communication skills to become an effective team member at every level of the organization to understand business objectives and provide insightful accurate reporting in support of those objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees accounts payable functions, including domestic and foreign payable ledgers, using various currencies.

  • Actively and quickly identifies issues associated with processing invoices; and proposes solutions to those issues.

  • Ensures correct and accurate coding of invoices through batch review reports for all invoices.

  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.

  • Prepares weekly batch check runs, wire transactions, and ACH transactions.

  • Assembles necessary reports for tax preparation, including VAT and sales and use tax.

  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

  • Performs, participates, and coordinates in special projects or initiatives in line with the accounting department.

  • Assists with month end closing processes by providing reports, meeting deadlines, and communicating any special items identified during the month.

  • Continues to improve department processes through thoughtful and ongoing communication with the AP, Finance, and accounting teams.

  • Oversees the 1099 review process, outstanding items, and various projects.

  • Ensures policies, procedures, and documentation are current and accurate.

  • Standardizes procedures for efficiency within a growing environment.

  • Periodic SOX compliance auditing.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma

  • 8+ Years experience

  • Accounts payable and general accounting experience.

  • SOX compliance auditing experience.

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong leadership with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to problem solve, multi-task, and follow up on requests/issues.

  • Deadline driven.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use.

  • Conditions of Employment: Individuals must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in accounting or related field

  • 2+ years in a Lead Role for AP

  • Oracle software experience is a plus.
